Prof. Sun Jisheng noted that since the beginning of the first National Doctoral Forum on International Relations held in 2006, it has been held for the 20th time and become a significant brand in China's International Relations academia, which has witnessed the vigorous development of International Relations in China. Prof. Li Junyang expressed that the journal World Economics and Politics has always attached great importance to young scholars and has been deeply involved in the National Doctoral Forum on International Relations. She looked forward to the forum continuing to yield outstanding research outputs and guiding the development of the field.
Prof. Wang Yizhou pointed out that against the backdrop of accelerating change on a scale unseen in a century, the discipline of International Relations is also undergoing a significant transformation. Within this transformative process, Area Studies shapes the world through regions and propels new paradigms in the International Relations academia. He encouraged young scholars to seize the opportunities of the era, engage in learning and innovation actively, design new research agendas independently, explore new frontiers courageously, cultivate academic niches precisely, attempt interdisciplinary research boldly, and ultimately develop distinctive, diverse, and flourishing research characteristics and patterns.
The 20 authors of the selected papers engaged in exchanges across several panels: Discourse and Alliance, Theory and Issues, Security and Strategy, Area Studies, Regional Cooperation and Global Governance. Experts from Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China Foreign Affairs University, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences provided deep and meticulous comment on papers.
